Floods
Floods are a very common phenomenon in the Carpathian region. The reason for their occurrence is a sharp rise in water levels in mountain rivers and streams due to heavy rainfall in a short time. , which increases the water level in streams and rivers.
Avalanches
The avalanche period in the Carpathians starts from December to March, of course it all depends on the climatic conditions (the presence of snow cover in the highlands) this period can vary. During this period it is not recommended to climb to the tops of the Carpathian mountains without special training and appropriate equipment (overalls, snowshoes, etc.). Avalanches are one of the most real and formidable dangers in the mountains. The causes of avalanches depend on the relief and nature of the surface, the slope, the temperature and humidity, the temperature inside the snow masses, the thickness of the snow cover, and others. An avalanche can occur on a slope with a steepness of 15 - 18 °, even with a slight snowfall
- study the route of your movement before traveling;
- follow rescuers' warnings and weather changes;
- remember that the most dangerous period of avalanches - spring and summer, from 10 am to sunset;
- avoid possible avalanches

Showers and their consequences
Rain showers are often accompanied by hail, thunderstorms and strong winds. These natural elements in the mountains can have tragic consequences for tourists. That is why it is better to wait for the weather in a safe place, get off the mountain, the ridge in the woods. During a thunderstorm, do not stand under a single tree, poles or on the shore of a pond. Do not fuss, disperse the group, turn off cell phones. Iron objects should be stored at a safe distance from people. Keep in mind that not every lightning strike is fatal, so first aid can prevent accidents.
Landslides
Landslide is the movement of rocks, earth masses down the slopes under the action of its own weight. Landslides and landslides do not start suddenly. First, cracks appear in the rock or soil. It is important to notice the first signs in time, make a correct forecast of natural disasters and take care of your own safety.
Mud flow
Salt is a temporary flow of water with a high content of dirt, stones, sand and other solid materials, which suddenly occurs in mountain riverbeds. The mud is the result of showers, rapid melting of snow and ice. It can also occur when a large amount of loose soil collapses into the riverbed. Unlike ordinary streams, the mud moves in separate waves.
Frost
In the mountains, the magnitude of changes in air temperature depends on the season, time of day, the nature of atmospheric processes, the presence of glaciers, snow cover and so on. To protect yourself from the dangers of low temperatures, first of all the clothes and equipment of the tourist must correspond to the circumstances.
Fog
may result from the movement of clouds. It is difficult to predict, it can appear suddenly and disappear just as quickly in the wind. It is almost impossible to move in heavy fog, so you should stay put and wait until visibility improves. Traffic should be resumed only if you have excellent knowledge of the route. Mountain rivers
The mountain river is one of the most serious obstacles in the hike. Mountain rivers are characterized by low water temperatures, high flow velocities and uneven rocky bottoms.
When crossing mountain rivers, the following safety rules must be observed: choose the safest place to cross; to cross in the morning when there is less water; avoid wading in the presence of dangerous situations. Once in a mountain stream, you should throw off your backpack, stay in position on your chest and try to get closer to the shore, stone, tree to linger.
